Press Release: New ownership of production and commercial activities of DecoNova Young Plants – Roelofarendsveen

The Hague/Naaldwijk, December 24, 2024 - The trustee in bankruptcy of DecoNova Young Plants B.V. at Roelofarendsveen and Nieuwveen has concluded an (asset) agreement with Straathof Plants B.V. An urgent takeover was necessary to preserve the quality of the plant material, and to secure the future delivery of orders to customers.

DecoNova is the market leader in Europe in the field of breeding, propagation and sales of chrysanthemum cuttings (so-called normal culture). This includes disbud-, spray and pot chrysanthemums for both outdoor and greenhouse culture. DecoNova's cuttings are produced in Africa.

The District Court of The Hague declared DecoNova bankrupt on December 3, 2024. Mr. J.A. Dullaart, associated with Cees Advocaten was appointed as trustee. The trustee and his team investigated the possibilities for a restart with a focus on preservation of live plant material, prevention of crop damage to customers and the interests of the staff and stakeholders involved. To investigate a relaunch, an information memorandum was sent to potentially interested parties for a takeover, and a bidding process was subsequently completed.

Agreement has been reached with Straathof Plants B.V. on the basis of a decisive offer, ensuring the immediate continuation of the production and delivery of plant material.

Straathof Plants B.V. is a renowned trading and production company of mainly chrysanthemum planting material, with many customers at home and abroad. The company combines years of experience with knowledge and expertise and is a reliable partner for its customers. Straathof Plants B.V. was the main supplier of DecoNova.

Creditors of DecoNova can, if they have not already done so, submit their claim(s) to the trustee (mauk.hvk@cees.nl). After administrative processing, they will receive written confirmation of that submission.
